What is Chia Seed Oil?

Our organic chia seed oil is extracted from the chia plant by cold pressing only. This means that it has been extracted at below 35C which helps keep the natural goodness of the oil intact.

Our organic chia seed oil is certified organic by the Soil Association and is golden in colour with a neutral, faintly seedy scent.

Chia seed oil is perfect for use in a recipe for a face or hair treatment, and as always our organic cold pressed chia oil is 100% pure.

How to use Chia Seed Oil for Skin

Chia seed oil is has a comedogenic rating of 3 and is great for dry and sensitive skin types. However, it can clog pores and should not be directly applied to the face for acne prone or oily skin types.

It is used in skin care for its skin hydration properties and is said to have potential anti ageing effects. Chia seed oil can be used in products like moisturisers, body lotions, a facial oil, anti ageing serums and eye creams.

Method

  1. Gently heat the shea butter until fully melted in a microwave, or in a bowl over boiling water.
  2. Combine the avocado oil and chia oil into the melted shea butter.
  3. Place the mixture into the fridge to cool.
  4. Once the mixture is cool and starting to set, whisk for around 5 to 10 minutes. This should reach a whipped and creamy consistency.
  5. Now your skin treatment is ready to apply!
